Queen Charlotte Sound, New Zealand

The ferry from Wellington to Picton is almost as good an attraction as it is a method of transportation because it sails through some scenic sounds, including the breathtaking Queen Charlotte Sound as it makes its way to Picton. I went to the YHA Wellington across the street from the supermarket near the hostels at 07:00 to take the transfer ($2/3NZD) to the ferry terminal, buy tickets at the YHA reception right before. You can check bags at the ferry terminal and getting aboard is quite painless. The ferry ($28) arrives at 11:35, check the timetable for up-to-date information, I am only quoting the times I rode.
