Khuangsi Waterfalls, Laos
In the hills outside of Luang Prabang, every tourist passing through goes to see them, yet they are surprisingly unknown outside of Laos. The turquoise blue waterfalls and pools are jaw-dropping for their beauty if not their size though they are by no means small. There are multiple sets of pools and falls spread out over the distance of a mile or so. The most spectacular are the topmost but they are unfortunately the hardest to get to, look for the natural staircase made of little stepping waterfalls on your right near the top of the path (if you miss this or the water is flowing too strongly, you can hike to the top and a difficult, unmarked path on the right leads down to these waterfalls. There is a tree overhanging the pool the brave can jump off of, but this should only be tried when the water level is high because at low water levels it could be a dangerous jump. At one of the first pools, there is a small rope swing to add a little fun in the mix.
