Just a few tips I picked up along the way. There are plenty of people are more qualified that myself to give tips on photography, but feel free to chime in!
If there are shadows in the picture and you want to take a photo of the lighted areas, underexpose the shot; shadows should be dark.
When taking a photo of someone in a gorgeous background, don't make the photo about the person, they know what they look like; marginalize the person.
